In Islam, there are two key festivals (religious festivities): one is Eid ul Fitr, and the second one is Eid-ul-Adha. These two festivities are celebrated all across the Muslim countries, including Pakistan, or Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and others!

Eid alAdha is an Islamic festival, and Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with full religious values and norms!

Eid-ul-Adha 2020 or Bakra Eid 2020 is going to be celebrated on Friday, 31 July 2020! But this is not the exact date because, in Islam, Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adhaon the sighting of the Moon of DhulHijjah, 1441, DhulHijjah is the last month of the Islamic calendar.

Depending on the country, the celebrations of Eid-ul-Adha can last anywhere between two and four days.

Importance of Eid-ul-Adha

The day of Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated the next day after Hajj Pilgrimage, followed by Qurbani ( Sacrificing animal in the name of Allah SubhanAllah).

There are two key reasons: Why Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated among Muslims with such devotion.

Firstly, Eid-ul-Adha is to remember the spirit of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), how much he was willing to sacrifice the person he loved the most in the name of his Lord! So, on this day, a great honor was given to Allah SWT by Prophet Ibrahim by his readiness to willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail. Allah SWT given Eid-ul-Adha as an award to all Muslims in the test of Prophet Ibrahim’s desire and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question.so, Eid-ul-Adha is known to be a festival of sacrifice!

Secondly, Eid-ul-Adha ends the period of Hajj (the 5th pillar of Islam ). Every year, about 3 million people perform the pilgrimage together. It’s a blessing for all the Muslims to be so near the Kabah( the house of Allah SWT).

How is Eid ul-Adha Celebrated

Eid-ul-Adha celebrations begin right after the sighting of the Moon of the DhulHijjah. When the official announcement of Chand happens, every Muslim begin their Eid preparation with full enthusiasm; girls start their mehndi preparations, and mothers already got busy in preparing sweets and tasty dishes. But the leading role in Eid-ul-Adha is played by men; they start sharpening their knives and all other gadgets for Qurbani. Qurbani is the necessary thing for Eid-ul-Adha!

Before Qurbani ( sacrifice), All the Muslims offer Eid salaah ( Eid Prayer at the nearest mosque on the morning of Eid.  Kids show great interest in loving and caring for the sacrificed animals ( Qurbani) during the days of Eid-Ul-Adha. That how kids celebrate Eid with joy!

Traditionally, all Muslims spent this special day by celebrating with family, friends, and loved ones, often wearing new or best attire and the giving of gifts.
